- Track Name: Sinking Skyline
-
Trudging through the
streets in wet clothes.
Rippled footsteps
in wakes of care tires.
Take your shoes off.
Put a sail up.
Let your burdens
pass you by.
Drop your change in
to a whirlpool.
Swimming drainage.
Wishes washing
up on taxis,
curbs and porches,
sinking slowly,
pass them by.
Trees and hedges
poking through the
wading window,
waiting waist deep
for the subway,
submarine now,
subterranean
swimming by.
Sinking skyline.
Clouds reflected
in your eyesight.
Wet lines rising.
Lay your legs out
on this glass lake.
Peace and quiet
for tonight.
- Track Name: Family
-
The things that bind,
oh the things that bind,
that hold us close,
that bring us light.
And I will love you
until the end of time.
The things that bind,
the things that bind.
- Track Name: Water
-
I don't come undone
when the grass grows,
when the river flows.
I don't fall apart
while the wood dries,
when the snow falls slowly,
no; I know that mother nature takes her time.
No one knows just what things blow through her mind.
I can fall asleep
to the hum
of june bugs waking.
There are melodies
in the way
that the pines are dancing.
Oh, I know that something always comes from waiting.
Oh, I feel the future in the present baking.
I won't lean against
the tree
when a storm is breaking.
I don't give a tear
to the ground
when the leaves are changing.
Oh, I know that some things are for me to find.
Oh, I know, that others will expose in time.
I won't swim against
the tide
that always pulls me.
I won't kick and scream
when the clock
ceases moving.
Oh, I know that all good things must end in time.
Oh, I hope these good things will redefine.
one breath at a time
one life in a line
woes buried in rhyme
by those married to mind
don't forget to heal
don't forfeit your feelings
don't give your self up for
the taste that sickens the cup
i know you want to be drunk
but lust is liquor of love
and time makes the wine that is pure
but you'll still need a cure
for blinded eyes under cuffs
for chains when bound to another
for tales your tell to yourself
for dirt disguised as your health
and i know you want to be loved
but this is now way to uncover
something that cannot be found till
there is no want to discover
there is no search and hunt
no begging, no changing, no running
no hurting, no lying, no hiding
breath deep and accept your life
- Track Name: I Believe In Heaven
-
I believe in heaven
when you look towards the sky,
claim your father above
is perched looking down,
laughing with us all
for how close we've become
and he gives the thumbs up
that the salmon tastes good
and we toast towards the ceiling
for all those who aren't here
and we've made something good
so we raise arms in cheer
to those who we've become
and to what we have to share
and to those we have touched
and to those who've touched us
and the breeze comes in the window
and the waves crash outside
out the door, cross the deck,
down the steps, past the sand
and the tall grass on the hill
slowly sways in the night
and we watch from inside
here's where family remains:
beyond blood and beyond birth
between breathes, beyond lines,
by the beach, by the bed.
Cross our hearts we've survived.
- Track Name: Blue Mountain Beach [Salt Lake City]
-
Tide rolls in and washes up
with white foam that we're coming to.
A path of light, it floats on top
and leads up towards a knowing moon.
Flashlights highlight holy sand -
the endless line of sediment -
a landscape silted from a land
that ended and began again.
Light pokes out, it's time to rise
with beams collated on the waves.
The hours of daylight follow dawn.
Let the weight of sorrow wash away.
We'll congregate here, holding hands
to sing and weep and dance a while.
On this mourning, sun shines forth
while the rain comes pouring down.
- Track Name: Perseverance
-
With eyes that beat in protest of the exhaling cold,
I will walk through many winters
just to find my own.
To find my own, I'll be patient,
and to forge my own, I won't wait.
Don't look down,
there's no failure,
find the other door,
and let it in.
When the evening grows the darkest,
I will find my light.
I will change my mind and see things clearly.
I will skip the fight and find my way.
I'll let go of blind [spite] anticipation,
I'll take hold of what is in my hands.
Don't let it in - hesistation.
There's one end to this
in many ends.
